Bored with Steroids

What can i say about the baseball steroid scandal that hasnt already been said, over, and over, and over again. Personally I am not a big baseball fan. When baseball highlights come on Sportscenter i tune out. Recently i have been relieved when i hear the old baseball rhetoric. You know stats, pitching rotations, and lineups. It seems that all anyone wants to talk about is the epidemic of steroids. Steroids are not new. I remember in Highschool (eight years ago) when it seemed like te whole football team but me was on the juice. I didnt care if they were cycling I just made it clear that it was not for me. I never felt like they had an unfair advatage, i just thought they were crazy for willing to shrink their testicles for sports glory.

At the the professional level of sports any extra edge could mean the difference between being a scrub or hero. All of the pros are legends in their hometown, they are all great athletes. The line between making the minimum and multi-millions is a fine one. With all this said, what are we concerned with really. Are we concerned with enforcing the law, the safety of our youth. No i think not. I think we are pissed off for being duped. America does not like to be made a fool of. If we would just admit that we are embarrassed and pissed for being fooled then it would all finally go away.

Where do we point our anger? At a handful of baseball players that look like bodybuilders, with gigantic heads and record setting stats. Jason Giambi took steroids? Wow what a surprise! Give me a break, of course he was juicing. Mark Maguire's head is bigger than rhode island, and we are surprised he used steroids. Sammy Sosa would enslave his family for another 50 home run season, of course he juiced. Then there is Barry Bonds. The ultimate baseball player, single season home run champ, 7 time MVP, and a colossal jerk.

All of the media has been waiting for this opportunity to pounce on the man. Who cares if he is a jerk, do we require all of our athletes to be perfect outside of the arena. I guarantee you Bonds doesnt care what you think of him. To say Bonds did not use steroids is like saying michael Jordan could never jump high, or that Einstein wasnt intelligent. Are we singling out Baryy Bonds because he is the best current player or because we do not like his personality. I believe the latter to be true. The biggest joke in this whole fiasco in Bud Selig.

  • OK. You seem to be able to write fuidly. Words flow for you.

Maybe you could find a subject you like more to bring a consistent focus to the blog. As you say, baseball is not exactly your game.

    I like this template.
